This is a Kilchoman single malt from Islay, matured for 5 years and 3 months in 46 fresh Madeira hogsheads. It was distilled in May 2016, bottled in August 2021 and released in March 2022.
The nose offers caramel, orange zest and ripe plums, followed by dark spices and plenty of smoke. On the palate, fresh lemon zest and a little peach give way to raisins, walnuts and dark chocolate, with the smoke well integrated. The finish returns to the Madeira character, with intense fortified wine, burnt sugar, dark fruit, drifting smoke and Christmas cake.
