Kilchoman – Port Matured 2024 (70cl, 50%)

This is a peated Islay single malt from Kilchoman, matured for its full term in refill Ruby Port hogsheads. It is a limited release, at least six years old, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. The Port casks add red berries and smoked meats to the maritime peat smoke and citrus sweetness of the Kilchoman spirit. On the nose there are red berries and figs with citrus, cinnamon and smoked paprika. The palate offers cooked strawberries, smoked meats, sweet tobacco and charcoal smoke, and the finish is warming, with fruity sweetness and ashy smoke.
