Kilchoman – Sanaig Cask Strength Dark Batch 2024 (70cl, 57.8%)

Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength is the first time the Sanaig expression has been bottled at cask strength, here at 57.8% in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited release from the Islay distillery, labelled Dark Batch and following the earlier cask strength Machir Bay. The whisky combines rich peat smoke with cinnamon sweetness and stone fruit, with citrus, mixed spices and dark chocolate behind. The nose is complex, with red berries, dark fruit, vanilla, honey and toasted oak. The palate is full and sweet, with peat smoke, dark chocolate, raisins, liquorice, cinnamon, spice and oak. The finish is long, sweet and fruity, with lingering smoke.
