Kilchoman – Sanaig Islay Single Malt (46%)

Sanaig is an Islay single malt from Kilchoman, bottled at 46% and named after a small inlet on the island's rugged Atlantic coast. It is a vatting of Kilchoman malts matured in former oloroso sherry casks and in bourbon casks, then blended together. The distillery sits on Rockside Farm in north-west Islay and makes only single malts. The nose offers heather, grapes, pear and orange peel with stone fruit, mixed spices and strong smoke. On the palate, ripe plum, red cherry and citrus compete with barbecue smoke, caramel, oak and dark chocolate. The finish brings mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon and brown sugar, with spice, smoke and lasting sweetness.
