Kilchoman Sanaig (70cl, 46%)

Kilchoman Sanaig is an Islay single malt named after an inlet on the island's Atlantic coast. It is a vatting of whisky matured in sherry and bourbon casks, with a high proportion of Oloroso sherry casks adding dried fruit, spice and dark sweetness. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. Citrus and peat smoke run through it, wrapped in sherry richness. The nose offers heather, raisins, pear, orange peel, stone fruits, mixed spices and peat smoke. On the palate, ripe plums and red cherries give way to barbecue-style peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate. The finish is fruity and sweet, with caramel, cinnamon, clove and lingering smoke.
