Kilchoman – Sauternes Cask Matured 2024 (70cl, 50%)

Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured is an Islay single malt aged for at least five years entirely in Sauternes barriques, a mix of first-fill and refill casks selected by Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills. It is a limited edition, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle and the first release of this full maturation. The cask choice aims for buttery sweetness, barbecued pineapple, candied ginger and floral peat smoke. The nose is creamy and buttery, with ripe fruit, salty air and subtle peat smoke. On the palate come butterscotch, floral notes and tropical candied fruit, with the peat smoke well integrated. The finish is sweet and balanced, with lingering smoke and a rich texture.
