Kilchoman – STR Finish Cask 231 Limited Edition 2020 (52.6%)

This is a nine-year-old Kilchoman from Islay, bottled at 52.6% ABV as a 2020 limited edition from Cask 231. The outturn was 251 bottles. The whisky was matured first in American bourbon casks and then finished for 15 months in freshly re-toasted red wine casks. The smoke is peated to 50 ppm. The notes describe smoke and citrus on the nose, then fresh summer fruit, salt and smoke on the palate, followed by a long finish of smoke, red berries and tar.
