Kilkerran 16 Year Old is a Campbeltown single malt from Glengyle distillery, described as a lesser-produced peated version of the Springbank spirit. This is the 2022 release, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and not chill-filtered.
The 16 joined the Glengyle core range in 2020, and the maturation varies slightly from one annual release to the next. The 2022 release was matured in 70% bourbon, 20% sherry and 10% rum casks.
The nose offers pineapple, morello cherries and soft peat smoke. Tropical fruit leads the palate, with mango, papaya, golden syrup, coconut, dried apricots and creamy vanilla. The finish is peppery and mineral, with a touch of cherry menthol.
