Kirin Fuji 50th Anniversary Single Blended Japanese Whisky marks fifty years of whisky making at the Fuji Gotemba distillery. It combines malt and grain whiskies all produced there, and is bottled at 51% in a 70cl bottle as a limited release.
The blend draws on some of the distillery's earliest stocks, including whisky distilled in its first year, 1973, together with components from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. Master Blender Jota Tanaka assembled it.
The nose has ripe orchard fruit, dried apricot, orange peel, honey and vanilla. The palate brings stone fruit, baked apple, sweet malt and spice. The finish is long and warming, with fruit and gentle baking spice.
