Kirin Single Grain Japanese Whisky Fuji (70cl, 46%)

Kirin Single Grain Japanese Whisky Fuji is a blend of grain whiskies made entirely at the Fuji-Gotemba distillery in Shizuoka, which is why it counts as a single grain. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. Three styles go into it: a bourbon-type grain whisky made with a doubler still, a Canadian-type made in a single pot still, and a Scotch-type made by continuous distillation. The Canadian-type forms the fruity core, the bourbon-type adds weight, and the Scotch-type ties the blend together. The nose offers raspberry, orange marmalade, pound cake and marron glacé. The palate has white grapes, orange peel, bitter chocolate, rye bread and cinnamon, and the finish is long, woody and spicy.
