Knappogue Castle 16 Year Old is an Irish single malt from the Twin Wood series, from Bushmills and bottled in 2014 at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The release was limited to 3,000 bottles, each hand numbered.
The whisky was matured in bourbon barrels and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose has dried fruit, soft sherry, raisins, oak, honey and toffee. The palate is creamy and round, with caramel, plums, vanilla, soft spices and rich sherry sweetness. The finish is long, smooth and slightly spicy, balancing bourbon vanilla with sherry depth.
