Kornog Coteaux du Layon is a peated French single malt from Glann ar Mor in Brittany. This 2018 release is eight years old and was matured in casks that previously held Coteaux du Layon, the sweet Chenin Blanc wine of the Loire Valley, in a 70cl bottle.
The result pairs peat smoke with rich fruit sweetness.
The nose is described as candied apricot, quince and fig with gentle peat smoke, green grape and light coastal notes. The palate is rich and slightly oily, with candied orange, walnut and a touch of ginger, and the finish is long, smoky and slightly drying with coffee and spice.
