Kornog Peated is a French single malt from the Celtic Whisky Distillerie, matured in bourbon casks on the Breton coast. It is bottled at 46%, with no added colour and no chill-filtration.
The distillery tastes selected casks one by one and blends their contents together, then lowers the strength gradually to 46%. Strong peat sits alongside iodine and fruit.
The nose opens with strong iodine, then almond oil, green apple, fresh pineapple and passion fruit, with lemon peel and beeswax and a touch of vanilla. The palate is fresh, with peat smoke, grass, mint and verbena, followed by pineapple and mandarin. The finish is long, mild and fruity, with the peat still present.
