Kornog Sauternes Cask 2019 is a peated French single malt from the Glann ar Mor distillery in Brittany. It spent 12 years maturing in ex-Sauternes wine casks and was bottled in 2019 at 46% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The Sauternes casks bring honeyed, dried-fruit character to Kornog's smoky, maritime style.
The nose offers bergamot, raisins and light peat, then dried apricot, honey, leather, cinnamon and clove. On the palate it is rich and creamy, with candied fruit, papaya and orange peel, while the peat smoke builds. The finish is long and smoky, with spice, leather, ash and a slightly maritime, mineral note.
