Kujira Ryukyu 15 Year Old is a Japanese single grain whisky from Masahiro Distillery in Okinawa, in a 70cl bottle. It is distilled from 100% rice and matured for more than 15 years in sherry, bourbon and American white oak casks. The warm, humid, subtropical climate of Okinawa is said to speed up maturation.
The nose offers dried plums, candied fruits, mint and chocolate. The palate is sweet with chocolate, vanilla and honey, followed by spice, a little smoke and toasty bread. The finish is smooth and long, with slightly sweet liquorice and pepper.
