Kura Rum Cask Finish is a Japanese blended malt from the Helios distillery in Okinawa, a producer best known for its rum and awamori. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The blend brings together malts aged between 3 and 18 years in American casks, and it is then matured further in ex-rum casks.
The nose shows toasted oak with a touch of moss, creamy lemon and soft malt. The palate moves through brown sugar, charred oak with an earthy edge and lime marmalade, and the finish brings rye bread and a hint of bitter grape.
