An eight-year-old blended malt from the Kurayoshi range, made by Matsui Shuzou in Tottori Prefecture, Japan, and sold in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky combines Scotch and Japanese malts, and it is brought down to bottling strength with volcanic-stone-filtered water. Matsui Shuzou was founded in 1910 and sits on the Sea of Japan coast, north-west of Kyoto.
Tasters pick out fresh apricot, lemon and oat on the nose, followed by a tropical palate with buttery undertones and a touch of honey.
