Lagavulin 12 Years Old Special Release 2023 is an Islay single malt bottled at a cask strength of 57.7% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is an annual limited edition from the Lagavulin distillery.
The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon and refill American oak casks, and it keeps the peaty, maritime style that Lagavulin is known for.
The nose offers smoked sea salt, medicinal peat, toasted oak and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate it is bold and full-bodied, with charred wood, damp earth, dried seaweed and a touch of vanilla, followed by a long, smoky finish.
