Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an official distillery bottling of Islay single malt, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is Lagavulin's classic expression, often spoken of as the Islay whisky.
Maturation took place in a mix of ex-bourbon casks and sherry casks, and colour has been added. It is also chill-filtered.
The style is intensely smoky and sweet.
