Lagavulin – 16 Year Old (70cl, 43%)

Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It was first released in the early 1990s as a intended limited edition, but it went on to become a permanent part of the Lagavulin range. It is known for heavy peat smoke, typical of southern Islay, alongside richness and dryness, and its flavour is compared to Lapsang Souchong tea. The nose is very smoky and concentrated, with iodine, sweet spices, mature sherry and creamy vanilla. The palate is thick and rich, with malt, sherry, fruity sweetness, peat and oak. The finish is long and spicy, with figs, dates, peat smoke and vanilla.
