Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured for sixteen years in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. It is a smoky whisky, with peat smoke balanced by the sweeter influence of the wood.
The nose offers intense peat smoke, seaweed, caramel and dried apricot. The palate is full, with smoky peat and oak alongside caramel, dark chocolate and apricot. The finish is long and warm, with dark chocolate, orange peel and lingering peat smoke.
