Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt, distilled on the island's rugged south coast and matured for at least 16 years. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle and comes in its original box.
Maturation is predominantly in ex-bourbon casks, with some sherry influence. It is known for deep smoke and maritime power.
The nose brings intense peat smoke, iodine and sea air, then dried fruit, leather and a gentle sweetness. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with smoke, ash, dark chocolate, spices and a light sherry note. The finish is very long, warm and smoky, with peat and sea salt lingering.
