This is Lagavulin 16 Years Old, an Islay single malt from the distillery founded in 1816 by John Johnston. It belongs to the Classic Malts range and is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
It matures for 16 years in oak casks and is deep gold to amber in colour.
The nose is rich, with pronounced peat smoke, seaweed and salty sea air, then dried fruit, vanilla and soft spices. The palate is full, with deep peat smoke, earthy notes, salt, sweet malt, hints of caramel and dried fruit. The finish is long and warm, with lingering smoke, salty accents and a soft sweetness.
