Lagavulin – 16 Years Old (70cl)

Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky from the distillery on the island's rugged southern coast, in a 70cl bottle. It is made from some of the island's most heavily peated malted barley. The whisky is matured for a minimum of sixteen years in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak casks, which softens the peat and brings in dried fruit, vanilla and a gentle sweetness. The nose is led by intense peat smoke with iodine, seaweed and a hint of medicinal balm, over dried fruit and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with sweet smoke, tar, brine, dark chocolate and chilli spice. The finish is very long, ending in sweet tobacco, oak spice and sea salt.
