A cask strength Lagavulin from Islay, bottled at 53.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle as a distillery exclusive. It carries no age statement and was released in a run of 6,000 bottles.
The whisky was matured in first-fill bourbon casks and recharred American oak casks.
The nose is described as bonfire smoke, ash, tobacco and burnt oranges, with crème caramel and lemon juice emerging. The palate is earthy and sooty with a meaty note, maple syrup, clove and aniseed, and a good length finish where peat and sweetness linger.
