Langatun – Old Wolf

Langatun Old Wolf is a peated single malt from the Swiss distillery Langatun, and its second peated release. It is a vatting of different casks, aiming for a balance of fruit and smoke. The fruit comes mainly from sherry casks. The smoke comes from a distillate made with peat-smoked malt, which was matured in oak casks that previously held red wine. The colour is red-brown. The nose offers caramel, roasted almonds, ripe peach, forest honey and cherry compote, with sweet smoke behind. The palate is spicy and slightly sweet, with dried fruit, dark chocolate and cloves. The finish is rather dry and woody.
