Langatun Old Wolf Smoky Whisky - Peat & Sherry Casks (50cl, 46%)

A Swiss single malt from Langatun, bottled at 46% ABV in a 50cl bottle. Old Wolf marries two differently matured malts: one aged in sherry casks, which gives its fruity side, and one made from peat-smoked malt and aged in oak casks that previously held red wine. It is distilled, matured and bottled in Switzerland. The whisky has a soft texture and a red-brown colour, with no added colour. The nose brings caramel, roasted almonds, ripe peach, forest honey and cherry compote, with very light saltiness and sweetish smoke in the background. The palate is intense, spicy and lightly sweet, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, cloves and wood, and the peat smoke blends in. The finish is fairly dry and woody, with light tannins and a little smoke.
