Laphroaig – PX Cask Single Malt (1L, 48%)

This Laphroaig is a peated Islay single malt in a 100cl bottle, made for the travel retail trade. It matured in three stages: first in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, then in ex-bourbon casks and small quarter casks. It is bottled at 48% ABV, at cask strength and without chill-filtering. The nose has sherried sultanas and raisins, a little sweet liquorice and only a light touch of peat. With water, marzipan, almond, creamy nuts and ripe fruit appear. The palate opens with strong peat and plenty of oak before heavy, sweet sherry develops. The finish is concentrated peat and thick oak with a deep, dry sherry note.
