The Cask Lore is an Islay single malt from Laphroaig, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle as part of the distillery's Cask Collection.
It is a vatting of single malts aged from 7 to 21 years, matured in ex-bourbon casks, European oak, Oloroso sherry casks and Quarter Casks. The label counts five aged casks in all.
The nose is full of peat smoke, sea air, minerality, ash and chocolate. On the palate come intense peat, bitter chocolate and peppery spice, and the finish runs medium in length, fairly dry, with a touch of sweetness.
