Launceston Distillery – Peated Release Single Malt (50cl, 46%)

This is a peated Australian single malt from Launceston Distillery, made as an exclusive bottling for The Single Malt Whisky Club. It is distilled from a mix of unpeated Tasmanian barley and peated Scottish malt, and bottled at 46%. The whisky was matured in bourbon and tawny port casks at a ratio of roughly 80:20, and the outturn is around 650 bottles. The smoke is mild and sweet rather than tarry or medicinal, sitting over a sweet, fruity base.
