Laws Whiskey House – Four Grain Straight Cask Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 47.5%)

A straight bourbon from Laws Whiskey House in Denver, Colorado, bottled at 47.5% in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 60% corn, 20% heirloom wheat, 10% heirloom rye and 10% heirloom malted barley, with the grain coming from two Colorado family farms. It is made as an open-air, on-grain sour mash, distilled in a copper pot-column still and aged for more than three years in new 53-gallon charred oak barrels. Milling, fermenting, distilling and ageing all happen on site, and it is bottled in 100-barrel batches. The nose offers orange blossom, black tea, honey and dusty pepper. The palate brings pekoe tea, orange peel, cinnamon, vanilla custard and sweet tobacco, and the finish is rich and dry.
