Laws San Luis Valley Straight Bonded Rye is a Colorado rye distilled by Laws Whiskey House in Denver, and the state's first bottled-in-bond rye. It is bottled in a 75cl bottle at 50% ABV (100 proof).
The mash bill is 95% heirloom rye and 5% heirloom barley, grown in the San Luis Valley. Each batch uses one distilling season's grain, aged for at least six years in a federally bonded rickhouse. It won Best American Rye Whiskey (12 years and under) at the 2020 World Whiskies Awards.
The nose offers sweet grass, honey and a hint of brine. The palate brings cooling wild mint, fennel, sea salt, orange tea, brown sugar, tobacco and a buttery richness. The finish is long, warm and structured.
