Laws Whiskey House San Luis Valley Straight Rye is a Colorado rye in a 750ml bottle at 47.5% ABV. It is made entirely from heirloom rye, half raw and half malted, grown by the Cody family in the San Luis Valley at around 8,000 feet.
Laws mills, ferments, distils and ages on site in Denver, from grain to glass. The rye rests for more than three years in new 53-gallon charred oak barrels. It won Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is floral and perfumed, with baking spice and orange oil. The palate brings black tea, sweet mint, salted toffee, orange peel and stewed fig, and the finish is long and warming with green peppercorn.
