A 12 year old Ledaig, the peated single malt from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Discovery range at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks.
Ledaig is made from more heavily peated malt, and the Discovery range sorts its whiskies into three flavour profiles: Sherried, Smoky and Bourbon.
The nose brings grassy peat and seaweed with green apple sweets behind. Peppery smoke meets burnt sugar and cloudy lemonade on the palate, and the finish shows hints of cedar emerging from the smoke.
