Ledaig Sinclair Series Rioja Cask Finish is a peated single malt from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. The release is a tribute to John Sinclair, who founded the distillery in 1798. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was first aged in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in former Rioja wine casks from Spain.
The nose brings rich smoke, bacon-like meat notes, red wine character, dark chocolate, dried fruit, leather and oak. The palate is powerful and creamy, with earthy smoke, ash and burnt caramel set against honey, chocolate and red fruits. The finish is long and smoky, slightly salty, with lasting red fruit.
