Lindores Abbey Friar John Cor Chapter II is a Lowland single malt in the distillery's Cask Strength Congregation series. It combines whisky from bourbon casks, STR wine casks and peat-influenced rum casks. The third cask type adds an earthy, lightly smoky side to the fruity sweetness. The edition recalls Friar John Cor and a 1494 entry in the Scottish accounts, in which he was commissioned by the king to make aqua vitae from eight bolls of malt. The black bottle nods to that history. It is bottled at cask strength, 60.9%, without colouring or chill-filtration. The nose brings maple syrup, caramelised sugar, roasted banana, dates and apple. The palate has pear, cinnamon and caramelised almonds with gentle earthy peat. The finish is long and warming, with oak, vanilla, ginger, black pepper and chilli.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
