Lindores Abbey – Single Cask (2019 STR Cask #190105) (70cl, 55.3%)

This is a single cask bottling from Lindores Abbey in Fife, taken from cask #190105 and bottled at a cask strength of 55.3% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured entirely in an STR wine barrique, a cask that has been shaved, toasted and re-charred, a treatment pioneered by the late Dr Jim Swan. Lindores Abbey is the site of the first recorded distillation of whisky in Scotland, documented in 1494. The nose offers dried fruits, chocolate orange, vanilla and warm spices, with red berries from the wine. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove, ripe red fruit and toasted oak. The finish is long and warming, ending in gentle oak.
