Friar John Cor Chapter I is a cask strength single malt from Lindores, bottled at 60.2%. It is made from a selection of bourbon, Monbazillac, STR and sherry casks, and takes its name from John Cor, the first prior of Lindores Abbey in the fifteenth century and the monk recorded in 1494 as turning eight bolls of malt into aqua vitae. The distillery ferments its wash for 117 hours, one of the longest periods in Scotch whisky, and uses an unusual set of sister spirit stills. The nose brings ripe banana, honeycomb, apricot, red apple, peaches and freshly baked pastries. Dates, figs, prunes, blood orange, cinnamon, almonds and honey follow on the palate and linger into the finish.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
