Our Barley is a single malt from Lochlea, a distillery that begins with barley grown and selected in its own fields. It is matured in three kinds of cask: ex-bourbon, ex-Oloroso sherry and STR. STR stands for shaved, toasted and re-charred, a treatment in which a tired cask has a layer of wood removed and is then toasted and charred again to renew its influence.
The nose brings poached pears, fruit sweets and a little marmalade. The palate is round, with rye bread, macadamia nuts and some pepper. The finish is long, with beeswax and orange.
