Longrow Peated Campbeltown (June 2023) (46%)

This is the June 2023 release of Longrow Peated, a smoky single malt from Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown. It is bottled at 46% and matured in bourbon casks. Springbank states that it does not chill-filter its whisky or add colouring. Longrow is the heavily peated style made at Springbank, first produced in 1973. The malt is dried for 48 hours over peat smoke and the spirit is distilled twice. The nose is creamy, with vanilla custard, then toasted marshmallow, herbs and rich fruit as the smoke develops. The palate is rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint, and smoke rolling over it in waves. The finish is gentle, with the smoke lingering.
