Mountplunkett is a 16 year old single grain from Lough Ree Distillery's The Bridge range, made from Cooley grain whisky from 2009. It is a limited edition bottled at 46% ABV.
It matured in three stages: 9 years and 2 months in a first-fill Bourbon cask, 1 year and 3 months in an STR cask that previously held red wine, then 5 years and 7 months in a Bourbon cask.
The nose has oak spice, pencil shavings and French polish. The palate brings fresh black grape, golden raisins, oak spice and grippy tannins. The finish is of medium length, with fruit like XO Cognac and oak spice.
