Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014 Champagne (75cl)

Cristal is the prestige cuvée of Louis Roederer, here in its 2014 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from the house's own vineyards, with 32% of the wine vinified in oak casks. The fruit comes from the oldest, chalkiest plots, farmed for lower yields. There is no malolactic fermentation, the dosage is 7.5 g/L, and the wine spends an average of five years on its lees. The nose shows zesty lemon, candied fruit, white flowers, roasted hazelnut and Madagascar vanilla, with fresh pastries and smoky notes after aeration. The palate is concentrated and chalky, with tension and a silky texture. The finish is long.
