Louis Roederer Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2018 Champagne

This is a vintage Brut Nature Champagne from Louis Roederer, made without any dosage and sold in a presentation case. The grapes come only from the Côteaux de Cumières: one third Chardonnay and two thirds Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with 25% of the wines vinified in oak casks. It matures for five years in the house cellars, then rests a further six months after disgorgement. The colour is yellow with slightly amber glints and a very fine mousse. The nose is floral, with honeysuckle and broom alongside toasted hazelnut and chestnut cream. The palate is broad and full yet light, with ripe yellow fruit and a lively, saline acidity. The long finish brings back spice and ends gently woody.
