Macallan – 12 Year Old Fine Oak (70cl, 40%)

This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from The Macallan, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. It was matured in European and American oak casks that previously held bourbon or sherry, and the combination gives a soft, light malt with floral and citrus notes. The pale straw colour is natural, formed only through contact between spirit and wood. The nose is complex, with fruit, raisins, toffee, vanilla and a little smoke. On the palate come banana split, milk chocolate, ripe fruit, oak, spice and coconut. The finish is long, with dried fruit, oak and spice.
