Macallan – 2003 Speymalt Gordon & MacPhail (70cl, 58.3%)

A 2003 Macallan bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Speymalt range, in a 70cl bottle at 58.3% ABV. Macallan stands on the River Spey at Easter Elchies, near Craigellachie, where Alexander Reid was among the first to receive a licence to distil, in 1824. Twenty-one stills now work there, using water from the Ringorm Burn spring. Oloroso sherry casks were used in great numbers until the Fine Oak range arrived, and they are still filled no more than twice. Macallan belongs to the Edrington Group.
