A single cask Macallan, distilled in 2008 and matured for 14 years in first and refill Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry oak butts and hogsheads. The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottled it in 2023 for the Spirit of Speyside festival, under the name Massive Oak Extraction, at 63% ABV. The release numbers 2,554 bottles.
The nose offers apple syrup, cola, eucalyptus, sage and nuts alongside Black Forest cake and raisin. The palate is thick and oily with a spicy edge, old Pedro Ximenez, orange liqueur and leather. The finish is long, spicy and sweet, with chocolate and wood.
