Macallan – 21 Years Old Fine Oak (70cl, 43%)

This is a 21 year old Macallan from the Fine Oak range, a single malt in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV, supplied in a wooden box. It is triple cask matured, having spent time in sherry casks of Spanish oak, sherry casks of American white oak and ex-bourbon casks. The European oak sherry casks add a deep colour with dried fruit and spice, while the American oak casks bring softness, floral aromas, apple, citrus and toffee sweetness. The Fine Oak series was described as Macallan's most important launch in 180 years. The colour is dark golden yellow. The nose is intense, with passion fruit and a hint of vanilla. The palate is soft and spicy with a touch of orange and peat smoke, and the finish is long with traces of oak and smoke.
