This is a 29-year-old single malt from Macallan, distilled in 1989 and matured in a single ex-bourbon barrel. It was bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 24.138, The Emperor's Old Clothes, part of its Vaults Collection, and yielded 116 bottles. The nose starts with a ripe, polished apple whose tartness gives way to sweetness and a farmhouse cider mustiness, alongside hay, spiced fruit chutney, hot pies, vanilla custard and sooty hearths. Water brings toasted seeds, sunflower oil and sponge cake. The palate is sweet and fat, with barley sugar, lemon water, icing sugar, crushed biscuits, Earl Grey tea and warm fruit scones.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
