Macallan Aera is a limited edition single malt made for nightclubs in Taiwan and released in 2018. It was bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and its colour is notably dark.
The whisky matured for a number of years in Spanish sherry casks. It was created around the themes of the mysterious nightlife and of the self.
The nose is led by vanilla and sweet candied orange peel, with sweeter citrus notes following. On the palate there is warm chocolate, sweet dried fruit and silky honey, then sweet citrus again. The finish is medium in length, sweet and gentle, with vanilla and a soft warmth.
