Macallan – Classic Cut Edition 2023 (70cl, 50.3%)

Macallan Classic Cut Edition 2023 is the seventh in the annual Classic Cut series from the Speyside distillery. It is a limited release in a 70cl bottle at 50.3%, a higher strength than Macallan usually uses, and it was bottled at natural colour. The Whisky Mastery Team combined ex-bourbon casks with sherry-seasoned oak casks from Jerez, to show the part American oak ex-bourbon casks play in the range. The colour is golden barley. The nose has pear and elderflower with light almond and rich vanilla pod. The palate brings sweet, creamy vanilla, juicy pear and lemon peel with gentle oak. The finish is medium, with sweet oak and almond biscotti.
